Effects of BPA on plants

The morphological and genomic effects of the environmental toxin bisphenol A on plants are being measured.

Exploring the microbiology of urban waterways

Greater Chicago is filled with small urban waterways. These ecosystems are deeply impacted by their close proximity to large human populations. The goal of this project is to measure the effect on microbes that call these waterways home.

Thinking faithfully about science

Science and faith need not be in conflict. Instead these different perspectives can complement and benefit one another. We think regularly about the implications of molecular science and help the church understand these advancements.

Microbiome and the brain

This project studies the effects of known beneficial bacteria on gene expression in brains. We also measure developmental changes in response to these bacteria.
